TaskRabbit celebrates its first anniversary in Portugal and consolidates national presence with launch in Madeira

Since launch in November 2020, more than 5,300 Taskers have registered on the platform Furniture assembly, minor home repairs and electrical help are the most requested services

Lisbon, 05 January 2022 - Taskrabbit, the platform that connects skilled, reliable taskers with people who need help with chores at home, is celebrating its first year of presence in the Portuguese market, marking the milestone by announcing its expansion to the archipelago of Madeira.

Having initially launched in all postcodes across mainland Portugal, this expansion to Madeira is testament to a successful first year of operation in the country, and demonstrates Taskrabbit’s commitment to Portugal.

Begüm Zarmann, Managing Director for Taskrabbit Europe, commented: “We are very pleased with our growth in Portugal to date, having facilitated over 100,000 bookings since launch. Our expansion to Madeira helps to cement our presence in the country, and we expect to double our business in 2022. As demand for our service grows, we are continually looking for new skilled workers to sign-up to the platform. One year on from launch, more than 5,300 people have registered as Taskers; we’re proud to have supported communities across Portugal, particularly during a time of global crisis.”

As a two-sided marketplace, Taskrabbit helps to create new work opportunities, allowing people to build their business and earn extra income. Taskers set their own rates and take home 100% of their rate and 100% of any tips received. In Portugal, Taskers on average earn €14 per hour and the country’s top-earning Tasker has made more than €49,000 to date.

Although the platform offers a wide range of services, the Portuguese are clear on those they use most: over the last year, the most popular requests for help were minor home repairs, electrical help and furniture assembly, with IKEA PAX wardrobes and bedside tables among the most requested. Of more than 100,000 bookings made to date, it’s notable that 97% received 4*/5* ratings by the client.

To discover and book Taskers in their local communities, people can visit the Taskrabbit website or download the app on iOS or Android.
